The 2009 Zhangjiajie International Country Music Week kicked off on May 14 and gathered together 30 top notch country music bands from 20 countries across 5 continents. The arrival of distinguished guest Mark Levine, an American cowboy country musician, was the highlight of the closing ceremony.

In addition to singing Chinese songs like “I Love Beijing Tiananmen” and “On the Horse Hill”, Mark also performed for the first time a song he composed to mark the first anniversary of the May 12, 2008 Wenchuan earthquake: “Ruthless Earthquake, Merciful World”, commemorating those lost in the earthquake.
