In another one of his appeals to the organizing committee of the 2009 Zhangjiajie International Country Music Week, on the evening of May 14, Gong Youqing, “Singing King of Xiangxi”, reiterated that the controversial folk song “Eighteen Caresses” is indeed the most popular and lively folk song in China, and the most influential and representative of Chinese country music.

He insisted on including it into the music week’s program arrangement and hoped that the organizing committee would invite the winner of nationwide singing contest “Super Girl” Chris Lee to sing with him.
