After the successful international country music week in 2009 and 2011, Zhangjiajie, world natural heritage in China, will hold the festival for its third time from August 31 to September 4. The festival, the only “international” country music festival in Asia, is held every two years. Compared with the first two sessions, the event in 2013 will be held at a higher standard and in a newer form. Thirty-two ethnic music groups from 24 countries in the continents (except Antarctica) will gather in Zhangjiajie to exhibit the “great voices” from all over the world, offering a world-class country music feast beyond country borders and ethnics.

The event in 2009 was accredited as “a successful experiment to improve national images through culture soft power” by the Ministry of Culture. Many famous Chinese musicians, artists and singers, including Xu Peidong, Song Ke, Gao Xiaosong, Mei Shuaiyuan, Li Yugang and Lei Jia, will be invited to the upcoming event this year to probe into the cultural themes and development directions of country music.
