A cultural forum, part of the 2013 Zhangjiajie International Country Music Week, opened in the Hallelujah Concert Hall, Yellow Dragon Cave Scenic Spot, Zhangjiajie, on the morning of September 1. Nine celebrities from different sectors put forward suggestions on the city's cultural and tourism development, from the perspective of music, photography, chess, geography, architecture, sculpture, landscape, industry, etc., winning great applause from the audience of nearly 2,000.

The guests thought that culture is the key to the transformation of tourism industry.

Xu Yousheng, director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, has always paid great attention to the cultural development of Zhangjiajie. He suggested that the city should combine its charming scenery with rich culture to integrate the development of culture and tourism in the western Hunan. Lei Yixin, designer of the Martin Luther King sculpture, said that as there is space for sculpture art development in Zhangjiajie, the city should possess its own symbolic sculpture.
